    • The product: Vera Health is a clinical AI search engine that finds medical evidence first, then writes an answer with every claim linked to its research.

Vera Health, the maker of a clinical AI search engine for physicians, raised a $28.5 million Series A led by Threshold Ventures, the company announced on Oct. 27, 2026. The Vera Health Series A brings its total funding to $32 million, and the company says more than 800,000 clinicians now use the platform.

How Vera Health's Clinical AI Search Engine Works

Vera Health draws on more than 60 million sources, from peer-reviewed papers and clinical guidelines to drug labels, and weighs each one by how the study was designed, how many patients it covered, how recent it is and where it was published, according to the company's announcement. Each statement in an answer cites its research and carries a color that signals how strong the evidence is, so an answer about a rare condition supported only by a handful of case reports shows that weakness. "Medical knowledge moves too quickly for any one clinician to read, and general-purpose AI tools can make uncertain evidence sound settled," said co-founder Maxime Allouch.

"A large, randomized trial and a case report should never carry the same weight, yet most AI tools blend them into the same confident answer," said Scott M. Silvers, chair of the American College of Emergency Physicians' Clinical Policies Committee. New medical knowledge takes an estimated 17 years to reach clinical practice, co-founder Taieb Bennani told Fierce Healthcare, citing research in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine. "Our mission is to close the gap between what medicine knows and what every patient receives," Bennani said.

Vera Health's Growth to 800,000 Clinicians in 190 Countries

Vera Health says its user base grew from a few thousand clinicians a year ago to more than 800,000 in 190 countries, including about 1 in 4 physicians in Spain and Italy, mostly by word of mouth among colleagues. Vera Health says it has been the most downloaded clinical app in the world across the App Store and Google Play every month since June. It doubled its team from six to 12 people while reaching those clinicians, Bennani told Fierce Healthcare, and is hiring internationally. Bennani told Tech.eu that Europe is where Vera took off.

"By bringing that evidence to the point of care, Vera becomes a trusted clinical intelligence layer, not just another AI tool," said Emily Melton, co-founder and managing partner of Threshold Ventures.

What the $28.5 Million Series A Says About Vera Health's Model

The Series A is 89% of the $32 million Vera Health has raised, by WYDE's arithmetic, and that total works out to about $40 for each clinician the company says it reaches. With 12 employees, it serves about 66,700 clinicians per employee, on the company's own figures. The usage and download numbers come from Vera Health and have not been independently verified. WYDE has covered other health startups this fall, including Midstream Health's $20 million Series A.
