WFP Somalia funding shortfall: morning run skipped this story because the clean WFP primary release (wfp.org/news/millions-somalia-risk-worsening-hunger) is dated 3 October 2025, while the 2026 figures (IPC 5.4 million Oct-Dec 2026, US$198M requirement / US$147M shortfall Sep 2026-Feb 2027) appeared only in secondary outlets (Xinhua Sep 30 2026, globalsecurity Sep 23 2026). How it works

    1. Send it. Use the form below or email it. A pitch is a few sentences. A draft is 700 to 900 words with its sources.
    2. Get a status link. It shows where your piece stands. Submissions are reviewed once a day.
    3. We check and edit. Software confirms every quotation and figure against your sources. The piece is edited into the house format and the public records are added.
    4. It runs under your name. Your first pieces are read by the editor before they publish. After that, a piece that passes the checks publishes the same day.
    5. You get an author page with your bio, your links and everything you have written here.

    What every piece needs

    • News from the last 48 hours, or an original finding from public records, with a hard number in it.
    • At least two sources from two different outlets, one of them the primary source: the announcement, the filing or the court document.
    • Quotations copied exactly, with the speaker's name and title, each from a source you link.
    • One thing the announcement did not print: a ratio, a rank or a comparison from the records. The editors can help with the Form 990 figures.
    • Plain sentences. No hype, no promotion, no predictions.
    • Any conflict of interest and any use of AI, stated on the form.

The full standards are in the ethics policy. How the newsroom works is on the About page.

    Frequently asked questions

Who can write for WYDE Newsroom?

Anyone who can report a story in the impact economy with sources: journalists, researchers, nonprofit and foundation staff, builders in crypto and AI, and creators. You do not need to apply first. A good draft is the best application.

What does WYDE Newsroom want from contributors?

Reported stories with a hard number: major gifts, crypto and tokens used for causes, AI and robotics that change people's lives, creator campaigns with measurable results, hunger and food policy, new ways to give and organize, and fraud enforcement. The open calls on this page list what is wanted most this week.

    How long does review take?

Submissions are reviewed once a day. You get a private status link when you submit, and it shows whether the piece was published, needs changes or was declined, with the editor's note.

    Will my article be edited?

Yes. Every piece is edited into the house format, which adds key takeaways, a section on what the public records show, and questions readers ask. Your reporting, your quotations and your byline stay yours.

Can I use AI to help write?

Yes, if you say so on the form. You are responsible for every fact. Every quotation must appear word for word in a source you link, and every figure must come from a source, because software checks both before anything is published.

    Can I submit by email?

Yes. Email [email protected] with a subject that starts "WYDE draft:" or "WYDE pitch:", the text in the body of the email, your sources as links, and a two-sentence bio.

Can I write about my own organization or a client?

Only if you disclose it on the form, and the piece must still be reported news with independent sources. Promotional pieces and undisclosed paid placements are declined.
