States Just Took On SNAP's Bill, Fraud Topped $900 Million in a Week, and Philanthropy Wrote $1.2 Billion in Checks. Over 71,800 Meals.

This was the week Washington handed the states the bill for feeding people, and everyone else opened their checkbooks instead. Starting October 1, states pick up 75% of SNAP's administrative costs after Congress failed to delay the shift, the same week a new global report flagged three countries at risk of famine. Fraud enforcement moved just as fast, with a $500 million COVID test-billing guilty plea and a $387.5 million exchange hack landing in the same seven days. And Phil and Penny Knight alone wrote a $1 billion check, more than Washington spent stopping any of it.

    THE BUILD

This week's SNAP news is exactly the gap we built the Impact Exchange to close. The EAT Card keeps routing everyday spending straight into hunger relief, no act of Congress required, and the EAT Clippers program keeps paying creators to tell that story on verified results, not follower count. Both are open right now, details at the bottom of this issue.

    HUNGER & THE SAFETY NET

States take on SNAP's administrative costs October 1

Starting October 1, the 2025 reconciliation law drops the federal share of SNAP's administrative costs from 50% to 25%, shifting billions onto state budgets that are already stretched thin. This is the exact gap our model exists to close, since every EAT Card swipe routes a fee to meals no matter what a state legislature decides. Read the full story →

    $EAT BY THE NUMBERS

Meals funded: over 71,800, as of September 26, against the next milestone of 100,000. That's the number we actually track, and it only moves one direction. $EAT was trading near $0.000223, up about 0.78% on the day, and it remains the largest charity token by market cap on CoinGecko. EAT runs on Base through Uniswap V4 and tracks the wider market, so it is small and volatile, and none of this is investment advice. Every trade and every swipe still routes a fee to hunger relief.

    GET PAID TO POST

We pay creators to make short videos about ending hunger, and we pay on views and verified results, not follower count. No follower minimum. No gatekeeping. You clip, you post, you get paid in cash or $EAT. That is the EAT Clippers program, and it is open right now at creators.eat.ong.

Run a restaurant? Turn every order into meals and get creator-made content about your kitchen in the same deal at eat.ong. And if you just want everyday spending to fund meals on autopilot, the EAT Card app is live on the App Store.

The states passed the bill to someone else this week. We're still the ones who show the receipts. Worth watching.
