    • Donations opened at 7:16 pm on July 15 and ran through the end of July 16, and more than 600 Western New York charities received funds.

    • Corporate partners including Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, KeyBank, M&T Bank, Wegmans and Delaware North backed the day with grants, power hours and promotions.

The Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres foundations announced Friday that the sixth annual Give 716 raised more than $1.8 million for charitable organizations across Western New York, topping the record set last year. The giving window opened at 7:16 pm on July 15 and ran through the end of July 16, and more than 600 local nonprofits received funds through the event's platform at give716.org.

Organizers Michelle Roberts of the Bills Foundation and Rich Jureller of the Sabres Foundation said in a joint statement that "Give 716 continues to showcase the incredible generosity and spirit of Western New York." Local partners including Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, KeyBank, M&T Bank, Wegmans, Delaware North and New Era supported the day with grants, hosted power hours and creative promotions, and the teams first announced the 2026 edition earlier this summer.

The playbook is simple and it keeps working. Two professional teams point their fanbases at the same 24 hours, hundreds of small charities split the take, and the number grows every year. That money lands while the safety net underneath many of those same charities is under real strain, a squeeze we covered when Feeding America launched its SNAP Supports campaign as enrollment fell by 4 million, and it adds to a run of philanthropy records this month, from giving days to Lilly Endowment becoming the first US foundation to report a $100 billion endowment.
